also check that throttle hold uses the full pitch range of the head. Depending on the setup, this can make a dramatic difference.
For example:
My 450 uses 5..95 % pitch curve in all flight modes, and 0..100 in throttle hold. 5 % difference isn't much.

On the 700, on the other hand, I fly with 16..84 %. Autos with that get quite awkward (been there done that forgot to use throttle hold when the ESC shut down).

On this one I have to disagree. Unless there is a severe front wind you do not need all the negative that you can get. I noticed, that when my max neg pitch is 9 deg, I only lower the throttle stick about a half down measured from the center point of the stick. This is about -5, maybe -6 degrees. As explained in the "kopteriopas", too much negative kills the inertia pretty efectively...

On the other hand, of course, it´s all the same if your hold pitch range reaches all the way down. You still don´t have to pull the stick all the way down, but this makes the smooth auto more difficult to perform.

right, and that's not what I meant. Full negative in emergencies maybe, otherwise around -5 or so. No, full positive pitch, for the last meter.
