In 1949, Sikorsky engineers developed the Sikorsky S-52 helicopter. "It was a sharp, responsive dream," Thompson recalls. "After trying some mild acrobatics, I figured it would loop." Until Thompson, no one had dared try to loop a helicopter. As Sikorsky's chief test pilot Jimmy Viner pointed out, "Any of 10 things can go wrong--all fatal,be sure you know what you're doing." Thompson did--erratically at first, then perfectly--10 loops in all, as a movie camera recorded the flight for history.
That year, he went to the Cleveland air races with the S-52, where he set the first of three international speed records that he was to achieve in the helicopters: 129.616 miles per hour (208.597 km/h) over 3 kilometres (1.9 mi)

 I've seen a video of a CH-53 performing a loop. I think an AH-64 has performed a Loop, also.
Another maneuver that helicopters have accomplished are Split-S and Immelmann and a Barrel Roll. The newer helicopters designed with composite blades and in particular, composite structrure that provides support and control to the blades are more capbable of these aerodynamic maneuvers.
The first helicopter loop ever recorded was in 1949 in a Sikorsky S-52. Harold E. "Tommy" Thompson was a test pilot for Sikorsky after WW2. He performed the loops at Bridgeport Connecticut. The S-52 had a 245 HP Franklin engine from a Tucker automobile. It also had the first all-aluminum blades from Sikorsky. That combination allowed the S-52 to set world speed records (129.6 mph), altitude records, and the performance of the first loops ever recorded.

Tuli mieleeni kysyä faktoja täältäkin !

Kyllähän AH-64 pysyy ylösalaisin leijunnassa, koska siitä olen nähnyt myös kunnon dokumentin.

Harvassahan noi nykyäänkin on, ja Red Bull:in BO on lajin huippua, jopa vieläkin, siviilikäytössä ja maksanut sen tekeminen "hunajaa". Anssin mielipide olis myöskin mukava kuulla. En ala väittelemään asioista vaan tietää totuuden. Huom. (Sarjavalmisteinen) !
