Kyllähän tuossa hieman viihdettä on täytyy myöntää.
Hiya,
I don't think it would be wise to encourage helis to gather where people might object, for whatever reasons.
It gives a boost to the "opposition", as it artificially creates a temporary situation that justifies all kinds of permanent nonsense rules and regulations.
With too many models in the air, proper flying is impossible anyway.
The club officially seems to encourage helis - I was invited to fly demo earlier this year - but some people are obviously very displeased about a) the presence of a heli and that b) that it's in the air most of the time. Guess what, that's why I go to a flying field in the first place. But, nevermind
My own strategy is: go to the Raku field when the weather isn't that great, and avoid 'peak hours'.
I am with you with that weather argument to avoid 'peak hours' although i usually don't care about that. I just try to fit in and at least for this year i haven't had nay problems fitting in except of course yesterday.
And for that b) i would say that anyone would be displeased if one or two hobbyist is reserving whole field for them all the time and not giving any slot for other hobbyists.
For some people helis are something that they don't like fly same time and i appreciate that (be it for fear or unpredictability of heli or something else) and usually they like heli people to give them some time also which i find pretty reasonable. I don't like being hit by plank after screwed landing either.
People you describe in a) are different thing. Those are just some narrowminded f*cktards (haven't seen much those). They are best to be ignored or pissed off. =)
But as i have been saying since last xmas, it seems that nowadays people at RAKU field are nice and they really don't care what you fly as long as everybody gets airtime. I never got to meet that material i can read from old threads.
