Hei, I hope its OK if I write in english. I'm a German living in Kemijärvi and my finish is poor yet.
I'm just purchasing a Mariner Quadcopter from a german supplier (
http://www.rc-terminal.de/MARINER-wasserdichter-Quadcopter-Waterproof-Outdoor-Multicopter-Base-Kit ). I thing its wise to use a waterproof copter flying at lake Kemijärvi due to the fact that it might have a technical problem or a flyaway and unfortunately land or fall into the water.
I do not want to use it regularly in the water - just in case. At our Mökki are no free spaces beside the wood - except the lake.
As I have many years experience in developing waterproof electronics I plan to make some modifications to the Mariner to be on the safe side:
-Open the Frame and flush the O-ring seal with Silicon rasva
-after closing it spray all visible screws with nano-spry
-change the plexy plate (normal door to the electronics at top) to a screw thread. For example a PET marmalade container (closure glued to copter and the container srewed on it.
-drill holes at top and bottem and close it with waterproof goreTex vent (to make air exchange possible and get moisture out)
-install over temperature bimetalls at the motor regulators which switch an additional blinking warning LED (my happen if rotors try to run in water waves)
-install a separate gps-gsm tracker which is activated if the coper is lost due to a flyaway (nobody passes by in Lappland outback and findes it just by chance)
-install FPV with front and ground looking cameras (switchable by radio control) to be able to land in the wood (trees are very narrow)
-possibly install a passiv cooling unit for the inside air
-install front and backside intense white and red LED to be able to see flight direction in strong sunlight (think to use cheap & lightwight otsalamput with own battery)
I think this may take a while to get it ready - hope it will still fly with all that stuff
Answeres in finnish are OK, I understand some and the rest: google translate is my best friend.
