OK, I'm no flybarless guru. I just happen to own one FBL heli.
That said, I would highly recommend to test-fly a new FBL heli with the FBL gyro
off. Granted, it's a bit more difficult. But not nearly as impossible as common belief has it.

So what this should show that it's nowhere near impossible to keep the little b*gger in the air.
When the FBL controller is on, it will mask many problems. And, if there are serious problems, it can go instable. I've learned this lesson the hard way - two 450 main shafts bent 60 degrees before the heli even hit the ground, splattered across 20 meters. And I'd rather not repeat this with a bigger heli - those were the nastiest crashes my 450 has ever had.
