Banked Turns

Fly it like a jet airplane.
And fly it like you stole it.

In a banked turn, the heli changes its direction in forwards flight while keeping its altitude.
A common beginner technique (or lack thereof) is to climb into turns. It's the easiest way to reduce speed, but it looks like... well, like a beginner.
A better way is a banked turn, where the speed is preserved.
Instead, the heli banks into the turn, and the pilot pulls it around. Ideally, the altitude remains unchanged.
For skiers and snowboarders, it's very much similar to  carving.
And for a 3D pilot, this is one of the most basic transitions: For example, entering a pie dish from a straight segment is the same as a side-in banked turn.

Here is a short video that shows banked turns and the stick movements.

And this is how it looks in real life.

No trees were harmed in the production of this video.
